What is Vurzel?

Vurzel is a free resume and career toolkit built for job seekers in India and worldwide. The flagship resume checker scores your PDF or DOCX against ATS parsing rules, content quality heuristics, and optional job-description keyword matching — without uploading your file to a server.

Alongside the checker you get 40+ tools: an ATS resume builder, cover letter and application email generators, LinkedIn optimizer, salary and CTC calculators, interview prep, and application tracking. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript libraries like PDF.js and Mammoth for local file parsing.

What happens when you upload a resume?

When you drop a file on the checker page, Vurzel reads it entirely on your device. PDF text is extracted with PDF.js; Word documents are converted with Mammoth.js. No account, API key, or cloud storage is involved — your resume never leaves your machine unless you choose to download an edited export from the builder.

The engine then runs dozens of rule-based checks grouped into categories: ATS compatibility (fonts, columns, contact parsing), section structure (summary, experience, skills), content quality (action verbs, quantified bullets, length), and formatting issues that break parsers on Naukri, LinkedIn, and corporate HR systems.

Understanding your ATS score

Your overall score reflects how likely an applicant tracking system can read and rank your resume. A high score means standard headings, parseable contact info, keyword-rich bullets, and no graphics-only PDFs. A lower score usually points to fixable issues — tables used for layout, missing Skills section, or bullets without metrics.

Optional JD matching compares your resume text to a pasted job description and highlights missing keywords. Use this before applying on Naukri or company portals so you can mirror critical terms naturally in your experience section.

Smart feedback and next steps

Beyond pass/fail checks, Vurzel suggests bullet rewrites, flags weak verbs, and links you to related tools — for example the Fix My Resume wizard after a scan, or the cover letter generator once your resume is ready.

  • Scan — upload PDF/DOCX and review category scores.
  • Fix — apply suggestions in the fix wizard or rebuild in the ATS builder.
  • Apply — generate cover letters, emails, and track applications locally.

Privacy and data handling

Vurzel does not store resumes on its servers. Analytics may record anonymous page views, but resume content is processed client-side only. This makes Vurzel suitable for confidential profiles and employer-bound applications where you do not want a third-party SaaS copy of your CV.
