Vurzel is a free, browser-based resume checker. Upload a PDF or DOCX file to get ATS compatibility, content quality, section, and format scores — plus optional job-description keyword matching. Everything below applies to the full resume checker unless noted.
Getting started
Yes. Upload, scan, and view your full report at no cost. There is no signup, account, or paywall on core features. You can also download a PDF summary of your results.
No. Open the checker, upload your file, and read your report immediately. Session data for fix-wizard and builder import stays in your browser only.
Aim for 80+ overall for competitive roles. Scores of 60–79 usually mean fixable issues (missing sections, weak bullets, keyword gaps). Below 60 often indicates format problems — columns, tables, or unreadable PDFs — that should be addressed first.
Privacy & data
No. Your resume file is parsed in your browser using JavaScript. Analysis runs locally on your device. We do not receive, store, or sell your resume data. See our Privacy Policy for analytics and advertising details.
Processing is local, but close the tab after scanning on shared PCs. Clear browser data if you used the fix wizard or builder, which save drafts to localStorage on that device.
Files & formats
PDF and DOCX up to 5 MB. The file must contain selectable text — scanned image PDFs and some Canva exports fail extraction because ATS systems cannot read them either.
Prefer DOCX when the portal allows Word uploads — many Indian ATS parse DOCX reliably. PDF from a text-based export is fine when only PDF is accepted. Verify by copying all text into Notepad after export.
Generally yes. Most ATS read left-to-right in a single stream. Two-column layouts can merge contact info with body text or drop sidebar content. Vurzel flags suspected multi-column parsing issues. Use the ATS format checker for a fast structure review.
Scores & job descriptions
Paste the full job description in Step 2 before scanning. Vurzel extracts important terms (skills, tools, certifications) and compares them to your resume text. Missing keywords appear in your report so you can add them naturally to skills and experience bullets.
No tool can guarantee 100% compatibility — employers use different ATS vendors (Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo, etc.) with varying rules. Vurzel maximizes readability and gives you a clear fix list. Always tailor keywords to each job description.
The paste checker is faster for plain text but skips file-format validation. The full checker validates extraction quality, page count, and whether your PDF is image-based. Use both during editing: paste while drafting, upload before applying.
India job seekers
Yes. Checks cover norms relevant to India: project sections for IT freshers, phone/email parsing, standard headings, and keyword matching against JDs from Naukri, LinkedIn, and company portals. See free resume checker for India and 100+ role examples.
Use the fresher resume checker, include Projects and internships, and follow your placement cell template. Read fresher resume tips for section order and common mistakes.
After your scan
Yes. Your report links to the Fix from scan wizard, bullet rewriter, and ATS resume builder. Scan data stays in your browser session so you can edit and re-check without re-uploading.
We do not offer personalised resume coaching by email. Run a new scan on the checker, browse blog guides, or contact us for product bugs and feedback only.
